Welcome to the world of 3d printing
I used a 3D printer for making models for my On30 train layout. Of course, it gets used for much more than that. (Actually, right now it is being used primarily for other things!)
On the model train side, I started up a Facebook page "3D Printing for Model Trains". It has been growing very quickly.
I also take part in the Friday Night 3D Community Hangout" @F3DPCH on Twitter, F3DPCH on Reddit, and F3DPCH on Facebook. Here, a group of 3D Printing YouTube hosts come together every other week. We normally focus on one or two topics for the first two hours. After that, we wander to wherever the conversations or viewers questions take us. Each stream is hosted by a member of the group. You have to check Twitter, Facebook or Reddit.

I've been learning how to print things for the layout. To see what I'm up to, Have a look at my YouTube channel: Zidim. I stream every Wednesday at 10:00 AM Pacific time.
SLA PrintingI've moved over to SLA (Stereolithography) printing. I've added a Peopoly Moai printer to my collection. This gives me the resolution needed for printing things for the layout. Over on my YouTube channel you can follow my adventures, learning how to do SLA printing.
